Many Binh Phuoc farmers cannot forget the 2020 harvest season when the price of cashew nuts drops very low right from the beginning of the crop. It is followed by the fluctuations of the world market associated with the Covid-19 translation. Cashew growers face challenges ranging from price to climate change and raging pests and diseases.

Fortunately, in Binh Phuoc province, there are still many enthusiastic farmers who stick to cashew with scientific solutions, opening up long-term prospects for this province's cashew industry.

With an area of ​​up to 420 hectares, Mr. Dung Quy Dong (Dong Phu district) is the owner of the largest cashew area in Binh Phuoc. More than half of Mr. Dong's cashew area is applying sustainable organic processes. There are currently 250 / 420ha certified organic cashew products according to the Organic standards of Europe and America.

According to Mr. Dong, overcoming the worries of pests, diseases, weather, the PN1 cashew variety is cultivated according to the current Organic standards for yields of over 3 tons / ha. Meanwhile, the yield of cashew cultivated by traditional methods is only about 1 - 1.5 tons / ha.

Mr. Vu Duc Bo - Director of the Cooperative said that, according to Fairtrade criteria, farmers do not use chemical fertilizers or any harmful chemicals to ensure the balance of natural ecosystems. Finally, to export quality products to difficult markets. Established in 2014, the cooperative has more than 130 members, with a total cashew area of ​​more than 1,450 hectares. Members do the cleaning, the cooperative will buy everything to deliver to the processing factories for export.

"Cashew nuts are sold out, sold at higher prices than normal ones, so members can be assured of production" - Mr. Ministry said.

According to Mr. Ministry, the precursor of the Phuoc Hung Cashew Cooperative is the clean cashew production group of the Farmers Association of Tien Hung Commune. The cooperative is also promoting organic cashew planting with more than 400 hectares, aiming to generate more than 1,000 tons per year for export to the UK market.

Bu Nho commune (Phu Rieng district) has more than 1,500 ha of cashew, of which more than 90% of the area was harvested.

Mr. Ninh Quoc Hoa - Chairman of the Commune Farmers Association said that in the last 3 years, people under the guidance of the Association have changed in perceptions of cashew production. Typically, in the professional group of cashew trees in Bu Nho commune established in 2018. The productivity in 2017 of the group was only 1.3-1.6 tons / ha. From 2019 to 2020, the productivity will always reach 2.2 tons / ha, especially there are member households whose productivity is more than 3 tons / ha.

Another good news for cashew growers in Bu Nho commune when in the near future, Hoa Phu Agricultural Cooperative will be established in the area, now has more than 20 members registered to participate.
